WHAT IS PROJECT CONNET
Project Connect is the Shenandoah Valley's one-stop free resource fair! Receive assistance from more than 50 service providers, all under the same roof - What often takes months to accomplish can be completed in one day.
Project Connect is a project of United Way NSV that strengthens and utilizes collaborations with agencies, businesses, organizations, and the community to provide comprehensive services through an in-person resource fair event for those who are at risk of becoming homeless, are currently experiencing homelessness, or are living on the cusp of making it or not.
Since we launched Project Connect in 2020, we have partnered with city leaders, community-based organizations, and volunteers from across the Shenandoah Valley to bring essential and otherwise hard to access services to residents. These collaborations are at the heart of what we do. More than 200 volunteers make this program possible. Homelessness and our struggling ALICE population is a community issue, and as such requires a community solution.
As we stride forward, United Way NSV envisions a day when all of our neighbors are cared for, housed and are not deterred from success by access to help. To this end, our core purposes are to provide connections and care that lead toward an end of struggling for our neighbors and to build a more compassionate Shenandoah Valley.
Who can attend?
4-H Camp is co-ed and open to all youth ages 9-13 (camper age as of 9/30/2024) who are residents of Culpeper, Shenandoah, or Rappahannock counties.
Registration for campers will open on March 1, 2024.
Campers are guaranteed one roommate request, so bring a friend!
Teen Counselors are youth ages 14-18 and Counselors in Training (CITs) are youth aged 13 as of January 1, 2024, who are selected and trained to assist with camp. If you are interested in this leadership opportunity, please contact your county Extension Office.

REVIVE! is the Opioid Overdose and Naloxone Education (OONE) program for the Commonwealth of Virginia. REVIVE! provides training on how to recognize and respond to an opioid overdose emergency using naloxone.
Since 2013, fatal drug overdose has been the leading method of unnatural death in Virginia, surpassing all other forms of unnatural death including homicide, suicide, motor vehicles accidents, and undetermined deaths. Opioids have been the driving force behind the large increases in fatal overdoses since 2013. In 2019, there were 1,289 deaths from all-opioids which includes all versions of fentanyl, heroin, prescription opioids and U-47700 (an illicitly manufactured synthetic opioid). Naloxone is a prescription medicine that reverses opioid overdoses. It works by temporarily blocking the effects of opioids and helps the person to breathe again. Naloxone is the generic name but can be found under the branded name of Narcan.
Families of English Language learners new to Frederick County Public Schools are invited to learn about community resources and school information.
Staff will be on standby to answer questions about the school calendar, transportation, meals, school supply lists, and registration. Local resources will also be available.
